Being a self proclaimed foodie, having lived in the mecca of amazing food in San Francisco for years, I knew that no matter how good something is for me, if it doesn't taste good, it will not be sustainable. I picked up several prep books, and got started incorporating more and more Raw foods into my life. I am even more spoiled for taste than I was before. Food in its raw form is incredibly flavorful, and when combined creatively, an explosion of pleasure in the mouth! This in itself is worth the work! Because it is a bit of work to make any kind of transition to another lifestyle... And then there are the health benefits that still amaze me.
The more Raw food I eat, the better my body feels. I am energized and light after a meal. Symptoms like indigestion, stomach upset, bloating, fatigue, pms, skin issues have disappeared from my life! My hair and nails grow stronger and faster, my periods are a breeze compared to before, my bruises heal faster, I sleep better, and I could go on! My husband is gluten allergic, so this lifestyle is ideal for him too!
My favorite breakfast shake:

1 teaspoon Raw local Bee Pollen
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Raw Nut Milk
Soak 1 cup of Raw Almonds + 8-10 Brazil Nuts overnight in purified water
Drain and rinse thoroughly the nuts
Blend in high speed blender with 3-4 cups purified water
Strain through a Nut Milk Bag or strong cheese cloth, squeezing as much of the milk out as you can.
You can add any or all of the following:
1 teaspoon lecithin
1 teaspoon coconut oil
Vanilla
Pinch of sea salt
Honey
Cinnamon
To season or enjoy plain.
You can use Walnuts, Brazil Nuts, Macadamia Nuts, or Cashews for your Nut milk. In a pinch, you can even use Hemp Seeds about 3 tablespoons with 3 cups water and blend well. They need no soak time, or straining, and gave a very nice flavor!"
