Body Cleansing Juice Feast Day 1

Juice "Feast"

This morning I started a ten day juice "feast". It is called a feast instead of fast, because the body is given an abundance of nutrients instead of starvation. This is my first juice body cleanse in 14 months; my baby girl is almost five months old, so I thought I would give it a try.

I followed a 10 day juice feast after my son was born, and as a new mom, being new to raw foods, and new to juicing, I had many questions. With these posts, I'm hoping to answer some questions you may have.

I will post a daily juice recipe with an update. My first day went well, better than I thought. I noticed my milk supply increased and my baby's mood did not change. My mood on the other hand was a little shaky. My headache started in the afternoon, which is a very common sign of detoxing. Also, as I was preparing my family's dinner, I was getting irritated. This, as well, is a common sign cleansing. It's the end of the day now and it's time to go to bed before the feeling of hunger gets me.

Day 1 - Juice Feast

Juice 1 - Body Cleansing Juice

Juice the following:
2 cucumbers
2 beets
2 small apples
2.5 lbs carrots
This makes about 48 ounces of juice.

Juice 2 - Grapefruit Juice

We love citrus fruits any time, but they are especially delicious when it's in season and grown locally. I squeezed some grapefruits and made 24 ounces of juice. Since it's citrus season and my parent's have a grapefruit tree in their backyard, I will incorporate a glass of freshly squeezed grapefruit or orange juice into each day.

Juice 3 - Apple Juice

Because I am still nursing an infant and to assure that my milk supply does not lower or diminish, I juiced some Fuji apples to add additional calories to my day. Apples are an inexpensive addition to your regular juicing. It adds a more pleasant flavor to green juices if the green taste seems to strong, and it is a very healthy snack. It's loaded with Vitamin C, bioflavonoids, and fiver. This made the feeling of hunger more bearable and the first day a little easier.

Juice 4 - Carrot juice
